Charles Justin Davis, 40, was sentenced in Superior Court Tuesday, October 20, after being found guilty of the murder of Amber Nicole Fields. Chief Superior Court Bobby Reeves presided over the proceedings.
Davis was convicted on five counts, including malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, rape and aggravated sodomy. The felony murder conviction will merge into the malice murder conviction.
Davis received life in prison without the possibility of parole for malice murder, rape and aggravated sodomy. He was also sentenced to 20 years without parole for aggravated assault, to be served consecutively.
Amber Fields, 30, was found dead inside her home on North Coleman Street extension in Swainsboro on Sunday morning, December 7, 2025. A family member discovered her after she failed to report to work.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation investigated Fields’ death at the request of the Swainsboro Police Department. The case was investigated as a homicide, and Davis was arrested on December 8, 2025.
“This is one of the most brutal, if not the most brutal murder I have been a part of since being in the District Attorney’s office, which is 25 years. It’s going to be a case that stays with me for the rest of my career. At times, there was not a dry eye in the courtroom except for the defendant,” said District Attorney Tripp Fitzner. “There was no win in this case. We got a verdict, but this doesn’t feel like a win. It feels like a loss because of the senseless brutality of what happened to her. You could not be human and have a soul and listen to what she went through and not have your heart broken”.
