Officers with the Swainsboro Police Department (SPD) reported...

June 25

Complainant came into SPD to make a report. She stated that her vehicle tag was mailed to the wrong address, and she was advised to make a police report to get a new one.

Officers responded to Lakewood Drive in reference to a complaint involving animals. C/p stated that while driving by the residence, she observed two dogs in kennels outside. She advised that she was concerned about the dogs being left in the heat and stated that one of the dogs was in a kennel that appeared to be too small for it to fully stand up. Officers made contact with the owner of the dogs and did not find any signs of neglect or abuse.

Officers responded to Robert Shaw Street in reference to a female who was reportedly living at the public restrooms and hanging her clothes between the poles while wearing only a sports bra and shorts. the woman stated that she had been washing her clothes using the water hose located on the property. She was advised that she could not remain at the public restrooms, hang her clothes in front of a business, or be in public view dressed in that manner. She stated that she had someone on the way to pick her up.

Officer responded to North Coleman Street in reference to stolen property. C/p stated that he left the property and returned a few days later. He further stated that he noticed multiple items missing including hand tools and copper wire.

June 26

Officer met with c/p at SPD for a report. She stated that her vehicle was parked in the Ay Wey parking lot and when she left there, she returned home. She stated that when she went to move the vehicle later, she noticed damage to the lower front end on the driver side.

Officer responded to Walmart in reference to a white male refusing to leave the property and exposing his genitals. A records check of the offender revealed that he was rated out of New Mexico, but New Mexico authorities advised they would not place a hold on him. He was served with a criminal trespass warning by Walmart.

Officer was dispatched to North Coleman Street. 911 advised that the caller was observing an individual inside his building with a flashlight through security cameras mounted inside the building. No individuals were observed after a search of the building. C/p stated he observed the suspect exit the building by pushing the bottom of the sliding door outward and crawling through the opening prior to officer arrival.

Officer responded to South Racetrack Street in reference to a dispute. C/p stated that he brought his father to the location to see friends and while they were there the offender pulled up. He stated the offender began being aggressive towards his father demanding money that is owed for “drugs”. After a brief argument, the offender left. While officers were on scene, the offender rode by multiple time yelling profanities out of the window.

Officer responded to Kite Road in reference to damage to property. C/p stated that she and her mother had parked their vehicle in the Emanuel Medical Center parking lot for a doctor’s appointment. She further stated that another driver was pulling into the parking space beside her vehicle when she accidentally opened the passenger-side door, causing it to strike the other vehicle.

Officer responded to Verizon in reference to a customer making threats. C/p stated that the offender called the office asking if someone from Verizon had contacted him. He was advised that no one had called him and further stated that they have had issues with him becoming irate with employees before. According to c/p, the offender stated that he was going to come to the store, “spazz out”, and that he would go to jail.

June 27

Officer was dispatched to New Street in reference to a male wearing all black trespassing on church property. C/p stated that the offender had been hopping the church fence to charge his cell phone. The offender was trespassed from the property.

Officer observed a vehicle stop at a four way with the right turn signal o and proceed straight across and conducted a traffic stop. The driver was found to have a suspended license, and a search of the vehicle was conducted. Marijuana was located along with a firearm. Offender was arrested.

Officer responded to Lindsey Road in reference to a third-party complaint regarding a missing child. Upon arrival, contact was made with the father, who had the child in his custody at the time. He advised that he allowed his child to spend the day with members of his side of the family and that the child’s mother accused him of allowing the child to go with a stranger and demanded that the child be returned to her. The mother stated that she had gone out the previous night with her sister but returned to retrieve her child. She advised that the father refused to return the child to her. The child was returned to the mother.

June 28

Officer responded to KT’s Place in reference to a harassment complaint. C/p stated that her boyfriend had been harassing her at work because she owed him $50. She further stated that she did not want him coming to her residence anymore.

Officers responded to Walmart in reference to a theft. C/p stated that a customer pulled up to her and returned her wallet stating that she had left it behind. She noticed that approximately $40 was missing. She then went to the Asset Protection office to review the store’s surveillance footage.

Officers responded to Lee Street in reference to a dispute. C/p stated that the offender had struck a female in the front yard of the residence and fled the area.

911 dispatched officers to East Pine Street for a domestic. Upon arrival, contact was made with the victim who stated that she was home when the offender woke her up punching her in the face. She stated he then began confronting her about a phone number in her cell phone. Offender had left the scene before officer arrival.

Offender was arrested for an active warrant.

Officer initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle that was speeding when the vehicle attempted to flee while driving recklessly. The offender then exited the vehicle and ran through the woods. After apprehending the offender, he stated that he was short of breath and was transported to the emergency room. Offender was later taken to Emanuel County Jail for booking.

Officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with a headlight out. A search of the vehicle was conducted where marijuana was located. Citations were issued.

June 29

Officer responded to West Pine Street in reference to a dispute. C/p stated that he and the offender became involved in a verbal argument over whose turn it was to cut grass. Per the residence rules, the residents who fail to complete their assigned chore forfeit their stay at the home. Since the offender refused to cut the grass, he gathered his personal belongings and removed them from the residence.

Officers responded to North Anderson Drive in reference to a welfare check. C/p stated that he attempted to knock on the door of an elderly resident and there was no response. No one was located inside the apartment.

Officers responded to the intersection of South Coleman and East Moring Street in reference to a vehicle fire. The fire was extinguished.

Officer responded to the Kwik Shop to assist another officer on a call for service. 911 had dispatched officer to the location in reference to an individual attempting to leave the store without paying for fuel. C/p stated that the offender had already left the scene and that he had pumped a total of $119.97 worth of gasoline. He stated that he did not intend to pump that much and was unable to pay the full amount. The offender made two separate payments with a little left on the balance. He was advised that the balance would need to be paid by July 1.

June 30

Officer responded to Lewis Street in reference to a dispute between a mother and her son. Officers were advised prior to arrival that the male subject had already left the residence. C/p stated that the dispute was between his mother and brother. He expressed concern that his mother did not need the stress and was advised that a report would be completed.

Officer was dispatched to West Main Street in reference to a subject stating a female had taken a ring. Negative contact was made.

Officer responded to SPD in reference to a walk in report. C/p stated that she is the guardian of a 17-year-old juvenile. She explained that the juvenile had been communicating with a 14-year-old on friendship level. She further stated that the mother of the 14-year-old messaged her off the child’s phone threatening her and posted on TikTok accusing her of pursuing her daughter.

Officer took a report of a lost or stolen tag.

Officers were dispatched to East Main Street in reference to a male threatening another male with a knife. The victim stated that he was sitting down and the offender came up arguing about a vehicle key. The offender was arrested.

Officer met with c/p’s at SPD in reference to a report. C/p/victims stated that they had received threats at their workplace from through text messages from their coworker. They further stated that he brings a firearm to work every day. They were advised that if they felt unsafe around the offender, to quit their jobs.

July 1

Officer responded to South Main Street in reference to a theft complaint. C/p stated that an unknown person stole two copper lines connected to his HVAC unit.

Officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle driving in the middle of the roadway. While the officer was returning to his patrol unit, the drug investigator pulled up and asked offender to exit the vehicle. Offender was arrested.

Officer responded to West Moring Street in reference to a suspicious vehicle that had been left on the caller’s property. The vehicle was towed.

Officer responded to Sheppard Street in reference to the caller stating that someone had vandalized her vehicle. She stated that someone had smudged mud and paint on her vehicle.

Officer was patrolling the area of South Coleman Street due to an increase in air conditioning units being stripped and the copper being cut off the units. While checking the old Melton DUI School, officers noticed the copper was cut from this building as well.

July 2

C/p turned in a wallet at SPD that he located at the intersection of East Meadowlark and Electric Drive.

Officer responded to Rentz Street in reference to a theft. C/p stated that while he was cutting grass at a neighboring residence, he left his push mower in the yard, and it was missing upon return.

The Emanuel County Sheriff’s Office requested an SPD unit to transport a wanted person to the jail.
