Classroom Resources support teaching and learning across Emanuel County Schools

Emanuel County Schools uses Education Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (ESPLOST) funds to provide classroom resources that support teaching and learning across the district. Every day, students and teachers benefit from investments in literacy resources, instructional materials, and classroom technology.

Literacy remains an important instructional focus throughout Emanuel County Schools. The district uses Heggerty resources for Pre-K through second grade and Amplify as the English Language Arts curriculum for kindergarten through fifth grade. Teachers and students use Amplify materials, purchased with ESPLOST funds, during daily literacy lessons.

The district also uses ESPLOST funds to support early literacy professional learning. All kindergarten through third-grade teachers have completed LETRS training, which focuses on evidence-based reading practices.

ESPLOST funding also provides hands-on instructional materials for middle and high school classrooms. At Swainsboro High School, Human Anatomy & Physiology Lab Manuals and anatomical models were purchased for Amanda Freeman’s Anatomy classroom, giving students opportunities to explore the structure and function of the human body through hands-on learning.

ESPLOST funds have also been used to purchase consumable instructional materials for middle school science classrooms in Swainsboro and Twin City. These resources let students apply what they are learning through experiments, observations, and other laboratory-based experiences.

Technology is another component of classroom instruction throughout Emanuel County Schools. Interactive flat panels give teachers another way to present lessons, demonstrate concepts, and engage students in classroom activities. Students can also use the panels directly to solve problems, respond to questions, work through digital lessons, and participate in interactive instruction.

“Our goal is to make sure our teachers and students have access to the resources they need to support teaching and learning. Whether that is literacy materials in our elementary classrooms, hands-on resources for science instruction, or technology that supports classroom learning, these investments help us provide meaningful learning opportunities for students across our district,” said Dr. Denise Warnock, Superintendent of Emanuel County Schools.

Together, literacy resources, instructional materials, and classroom technology show how ESPLOST funds are being used in classrooms throughout Emanuel County Schools. Across grade levels and subject areas, these resources provide teachers and students with tools that support daily instruction.
