At the October 6, 2026 meeting of the City Commission of Twin City, the Commission reviewed bids and a recommendation from City Engineer John McClellan on the most recent road surfacing and paving project. The Commission reviewed (3) bids and approved the lowest bidder of Sikes Brothers, Inc. Upon the completion of this project, Twin City will have resurfaced and/or paved all roads in Twin City over the past 8 years. Mayor Donaldson said, “In 2019, we began working on an ambitious goal of resurfacing or paving all roads in the city limits of Twin City. Once we complete this latest project, our goal will be completed. When I took office 11 years ago, our infrastructure was in a state of disrepair, and we’ve been working diligently to correct that. We are glad that we have met our goal.”

The following (21) roads will be resurfaced in this project: Old Metter Road, 4th Avenue, Park Street, Apple Avenue, Cherry Avenue, Plum Avenue, Carl Durden Road, Mathis Street, Casa Drive, Lee Street, A Street, B Street, City Shop Road, Gillikin Street, 2nd Avenue, N. College Street Extension, Circle Drive, Brown Avenue, Granddaughter Avenue, 5th Avenue Extension, and Colston Lane.

Also at the October meeting, the City Commission discussed the 2026 millage rate. Due to the FLOST collections in 2026, the City Commission will be able to lower the millage rate by 80% for 2026 with plans to roll the millage rate back 100% to zero in 2027. Mayor Donaldson said, “We are working hard to provide meaningful property tax relief to our citizens. In our current economy, our citizens need relief from the increasing cost of living. I look forward to 2027 when we’ll be able to provide 100% property tax relief.” The City Commission will approve the final millage rate in the November 2026 meeting with property tax bills being due in February 2027.

In other action from the meeting, the City Commission approved the 2027 Occupational Tax Certificate Schedule with no increases in rates, and the minutes from the September 1, 2026 regular meeting.
