Morris Lee Grimes Jr., age 69, of Swainsboro, passed away October 4, 2026, at Azalea Health and Rehabilitation following a brief illness. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, October 7, at 11 a.m. at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Dellwood. Family received friends Tuesday, October 6, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Tomlinson Funeral Home.
Lee was born August 22, 1957, to Morris Lee Grimes Sr. and Sara Grimes. He graduated from Swainsboro High School in 1976. Lee enjoyed riding his bicycle, working in the family garden with his father, and later in life, walking laps around the driveway with his caregiver. He enjoyed being outside sitting and talking. One of his favorite sayings was “I’m an outside boy.” Watching classic television shows was one of his favorite pastimes. Lee LOVED to laugh, cutting up and always had a smile to share.
Mr. Grimes is survived by his mother, Sara Grimes; sister, Jan Grimes; and his cat, Sugar.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Azalea Health and Rehabilitation in Metter. Lee spent almost five months with them and received excellent care, compassion and kindness.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to: Azalea Health and Rehabilitation, P.O. Box 356, Metter, Georgia 30439 to the “Christmas Fund” and/or the “Activity Fund.”
