I just thought that this would be something to help those of us who have exhausted our means. Sometimes in life you are at your wits end. This was the case with the fishermen in Luke chapter five.
Peter, James and John were professional fishermen. That was the way they fed their families and paid their bills. This night they went fishing. They were in the boat all night and did not catch anything. Tired and disappointed, they cleaned their nets and were hanging them to dry for the next trip.
When they came to shore, Jesus entered their boat. He had them to pushed off a little ways and taught the people from the boat. Afterwards Jesus told Simeon Peter to, ”Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a draught.” Peter responded by telling Jesus that they had worked all night and had not caught anything. Yet he said you said so I will.
When Peter obeyed the Word of God, they caught so many light fishes that their nets began to break. What a difference it makes by the company you keep. So, I just thought, “who's in your boat?” Their fishing was the same. The difference was that Jesus was in their boat.
So, when situations come, make sure that you have Jesus on board with you. Make sure he is in your life. Make sure you obey his commands which is his word. And that my friends make all the difference. Who are you keeping company with? Psalms 1:2 encourages us to meditate in His word day and night. Make sure the Word is in your boat.
