Varsity Lady Eagles roll past Portal Panthers

David Emanuel Academy Varsity Lady Eagles easily dispatched Portal Panthers on Tuesday, September 1, at Portal Middle High School, 12-4. Lady Eagles got on the board in the top of the first inning after Payton Peebles grounded out, Rayleigh Faircloth singled down the left field line, and Portal Panthers dropped a third strike, each scoring one run. A double by Peebles, an error, and a double by Evie Moore helped Lady Eagles extend their early lead in the third.

Lady Eagles scored five runs on three hits in the top of the fourth inning. An error scored one run, Kaley Flowers scored after tagging up, Emily McRae doubled, scoring one run, Bailey McNure doubled, scoring one run, and Moore was struck by a pitch, driving in a run.

Aubrey Scott earned the win for Lady Eagles. The pitcher surrendered four hits and four runs over three and one-third innings, striking out four and walking seven.

Boren took the loss for Portal Panthers. The starting pitcher went five innings, allowing 12 runs (five earned) on 11 hits, striking out two and walking two.

Faircloth tossed one and two-thirds innings of scoreless ball for Lady Eagles in relief. The pitcher allowed one hit, striking out two and walking none.

Lady Eagles tallied 11 hits in the game. McNure, Faircloth, Peebles, and Scott each collected two hits for Lady Eagles. Faircloth, Peebles, and McRae each drove in two runs for Lady Eagles. Flowers, Scott, and McRae each stole multiple bases for Lady Eagles. Lady Eagles stole nine bases in the game and didn't commit a single error in the field. Moore had the most chances in the field with six.

Pylant went 3-for-3 at the plate and led the team with two runs batted in. Parker paced Portal Panthers with three walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, piling up seven walks for the game. Lanier stole two bases. Portal Panthers turned one double play in the game.
