Varsity Lady Eagles firing on all cylinders against Varsity Crusaders

David Emanuel Varsity Lady Eagles easily dispatched Trinity Christian Varsity Crusaders on Monday at Trinity Christian School, 16-5.

Lady Eagles jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after Payton Peebles grounded out, scoring one run, Bailey McNure drew a walk, scoring one run, Kate Yeomans singled, scoring two runs, and Piper Terry induced Sydney Lively to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored.

Five more Lady Eagles runs crossed the plate in the second inning to extend the lead to 10-1. Rayleigh Faircloth homered to center field, scoring two runs, Yeomans doubled, scoring one run, Carrie Johnson singled, scoring one run, and Aubrey Scott drew a walk, scoring one run.

Lively earned the win for Lady Eagles. The hurler surrendered four hits and five runs (one earned) over five innings, striking out eight and walking one. Terry took the loss for Crusaders. The starter went three and two-thirds innings, surrendering 12 runs on 10 hits, striking out none and walking eight.

Lady Eagles amassed 10 hits in the game. Yeomans, Faircloth, and Emily McRae each collected two hits for Lady Eagles. Kaley Flowers, Yeomans, and Faircloth each drove in two runs. McNure paced with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, accumulating eight walks for the game. Flowers, Scott, and McRae each stole multiple bases and Lady Eagles stole 12 bases in the game.

Reese Cobb, Chloe Rozier, Abby Kilpatrick, and Ella Kendrick each collected one hit and Liza Gay, Cobb, Eden Rowe, and Rozier each drove in one run for Crusaders.

Lady Eagles play at home on Tuesday against Pinewood.
