Both teams were strong in the circle on Monday, but David Emanuel Varsity Lady Eagles defeated Robert Toombs Christian Academy Varsity Lady Crusaders 3-1. Rayleigh Faircloth started the game for Varsity Lady Eagles and recorded 21 outs.
Varsity Lady Eagles got on the board in the first inning after Kaley Flowers singled, scoring one run.
Kinsley Kennedy singled down the left field line, which helped Varsity Lady Crusaders tie the game at one in the top of the second.
In the bottom of the sixth, Varsity Lady Eagles broke up the tie when Kate Yeomans singled, scoring one run. Then a single by Sydney Lively followed to extend the lead to 3-1.
Faircloth earned the win for Varsity Lady Eagles. The hurler allowed seven hits and one run over seven innings, striking out four and walking none. Lizzie Sapp took the loss for Varsity Lady Crusaders. The starter went six innings, allowing three runs on 10 hits, striking out two and walking two.
Varsity Lady Eagles accumulated 10 hits in the game. Bailey McNure and Faircloth each collected two hits for Varsity Lady Eagles. Flowers, Yeomans, and Lively each drove in one run for Varsity Lady Eagles.
Mary Frances Stanley, Anna Kate Joyner, Kennedy, Chesney Burch, Braylin Pittman, Annabelle Coe, and Amelia Mercer each collected one hit for Varsity Lady Crusaders. Kennedy went 1-for-3 at the plate and led the team with one run batted in. Varsity Lady Crusaders turned one double play in the game. Varsity Lady Crusaders didn't commit a single error in the field. Leanna Deloach had the most chances in the field with eight.
Varsity Lady Eagles will travel to Westfield School for their next game on Tuesday.
