The Swainsboro Tigers wrapped up their track and field season two weeks ago at the GHSA State Track and Field Finals, with multiple athletes competing against some of the top talent from across Georgia and representing the Tiger program on one of the biggest stages of the season.

Leading the way for Swainsboro was Christian Tarver, who earned a third-place finish in the shot put competition and brought home a state medal for the Tigers. Marco Danford also turned in a strong performance on the track, placing fourth in the 100-meter dash against a talented field of sprinters.

The Tigers also found success in relay competition as the 4x100 relay team finished fifth in the state finals. Javari Williams narrowly missed a top-eight finish, placing ninth in the 400-meter dash.

In field events, Kali Brown competed in the high jump and cleared 4-10. Jabios Smith represented Swainsboro in both the long jump and triple jump, later finishing ninth in the triple jump competition. Shannon Benjamin also competed in multiple events, participating in the high jump before placing 13th in the triple jump. Ajontae Floyd represented the Tigers in the discus competition.

While not every athlete reached the medal stand, qualifying for the state finals is an accomplishment in itself and reflects the work put in throughout the season. With several athletes advancing to the state’s biggest stage and Christian Tarver bringing home a state medal, the Tigers once again proved they could compete among Georgia’s best.
