The Swainsboro Tigers boys basketball team put together an impressive three-game run last week, earning two key region victories before closing the stretch with an emotional Senior Night win over Claxton.

The week began on February 4 when the Tigers hosted Savannah Country Day in an important region matchup. Swainsboro battled through a competitive contest before pulling away late to secure a 62–52 victory, using strong defensive stretches and timely scoring to set the tone for the week.

Two nights later, the Tigers traveled to face Savannah Christian in another critical region game. Despite playing in a tough road environment, Swainsboro controlled the tempo and executed on both ends of the floor, earning a 54–42 win to strengthen its region positioning and continue building momentum.

The Tigers returned home on February 7 for Senior Night, hosting Claxton in a non-region contest that carried special meaning for the program. Prior to tip-off, the team honored its senior class LJ Morgan, Keenan Kelly, RJ Johnson, Jaresse Williams, Marcus Watkins, Aquarri Tillman, JaRon Johnson, and Michael Johnson recognizing their dedication, leadership, and commitment to Swainsboro basketball.

With an energized crowd in attendance, the Tigers delivered a strong performance, defeating Claxton 59–45 to cap the week with a third consecutive victory. The win provided a fitting celebration for the seniors, who have played a key role in the team’s development and success.

Head Coach Brice Hobbs credited his team’s focus and consistency throughout the stretch.

“We knew these were important games, especially the region matchups, and the guys stayed locked in,” Hobbs said. “They competed, defended well, and found ways to finish games.”

Hobbs also shared a special message for the senior class following the Senior Night victory.

“This group of seniors has given a lot to our program,” Hobbs said. “They’ve worked hard, shown leadership, and helped set the example for the younger guys coming behind them. We’re proud of what they’ve accomplished and thankful for everything they’ve done for Tiger basketball.”

With the three victories, Swainsboro improved to 17–6 overall and 7–2 in region play, placing the Tigers in second place heading into their final region matchup of the regular season. Swainsboro will host Woodville-Tompkins this Friday night in The Den, with tipoff scheduled for 6:30 p.m.

Fans are encouraged to come out and support the entire basketball program as the Tigers close out the regular season and begin preparing for the upcoming Region Tournament in the week ahead.
