Swainsboro High School recently dedicated its renovated softball facility, marking a new chapter for the Lady Tigers softball program.
The Tiger Field renovations were funded by the Education Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (ESPLOST). Updates included new LED field lights, dugouts, fencing, drainage and irrigation systems, fresh sod, a flagpole, and a brick backstop with protective netting. New stadium seating will be added once it arrives.
During the dedication, Coach Alicia Hendrix thanked the Emanuel County Board of Education and the community for their continued support of students and the school’s athletic programs.
“This field is more than grass, dirt, fences, and lights,” Hendrix said. “It will become a place where student-athletes learn valuable lessons about teamwork, discipline, perseverance, leadership, and dedication.”
Hendrix said the facility will serve many generations of Swainsboro student-athletes, giving them a place to compete, build friendships, and create lasting memories.
Following recent renovations and upgrades to instructional facilities, classroom technology, and learning materials, Assistant Superintendent Jansen Ware emphasized the vital role ESPLOST funding has played in supporting student-centered projects across the district, including the Tiger Field renovations.
“ESPLOST funding allows us to make meaningful improvements to our facilities that directly benefit our students,” Ware said. “Projects like the softball renovations provide our student-athletes with quality facilities while creating improvements that will serve our schools and community for years to come.”
Hendrix told those gathered for the dedication, the true value of the facility will ultimately be measured not only by its appearance, but by “the memories made here, the lessons learned here, and the lives impacted here.”
