Saturday morning brought sunshine, teamwork, and Tiger pride as the Swainsboro Fire Department and Swainsboro High School Athletics joined forces for a car wash fundraiser. For just $10 a wash, community members lined up to support local athletes, helping raise funds for the SHS athletic program. Student-athletes from girls and boys basketball, flag football, football, and cheerleading worked side by side with their coaches to serve the community and keep the energy high throughout the morning.
“Saturday’s car wash fundraiser gave our girls a chance to connect with the community,” said Coach Alexandria Walden. “It was a proud moment to witness our student-athletes, alongside other programs, actively giving back while enjoying the experience. Demonstrating Tiger Pride and fostering unity through student-athlete and community engagement is at the heart of our mission. This initiative is one of many I hope to see grow, as it’s important that our student-athletes recognize the value of service and continue to give back to the community that consistently supports and believes in them.”
Fire Chief Ali Mims added, “Our department was proud to stand alongside these student-athletes. Anytime we can work together for a good cause and help our youth, it’s a win for the entire community. We’re excited to continue partnering on more events like this in the future.”
The collaboration between the Swainsboro Fire Department and SHS Athletics showed just how impactful the community can be when it comes together to support its youth. The event was a reminder that teamwork, service, and pride are at the heart of the Tiger community, and it set the stage for many more opportunities to come.
