Operation Digital Heroes, founded by honor student and ECI JROTC cadet Erin Stanford, is partnering with United Veterans of Millen, Inc. (UVoM) to host ‘Hearts for Heroes,’ which will provide essential personal items and comfort goods for military veterans in the CSRA. The drive runs through November 1, with donated items to be distributed on Veterans Day, November 11.
The community is encouraged to donate blankets, towels, socks, toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, Dude Wipes, and flushable wipes to help local veterans in need. Items can be donated by purchasing directly from the Amazon Wish List below or by contacting Stanford to arrange local pickup.
Stanford expressed her passion for the initiative, saying: “Growing up with several military service men and women in my family has given me a better sense of the sacrifices that are made for us. I know that UVoM always finds ways to serve our veterans, and I knew that joining them would be a meaningful way for me to give back to my community. Every blanket, every toothbrush, every item we collect shows a veteran he or she is not forgotten.”
Shanelle Carr, Secretary of United Veterans of Millen, developed the ‘Hearts for Heroes’ initiative and shared her appreciation for the collaboration: “We serve veterans who often face needs that go beyond what traditional programs cover. To have Erin participate in this effort is a blessing. These essential items can make a real difference in day-to-day life, especially for veterans who may be living alone or with limited resources.”
