Swainsboro High School Cheer welcomed more than 140 young campers on Saturday, August 29, for the 2026 SHS Cheer Mini Camp, marking the largest mini camp in the program’s history.
The Swainsboro High School New Gym was filled with excitement, energy, and plenty of Tiger spirit as campers spent the day learning from the SHS cheerleaders and coaches. Throughout the camp, participants worked on cheer fundamentals, dances, jumps, stunts, and other skills while getting a firsthand look at what it means to be part of the Swainsboro Cheer tradition.
While Mini Camp provides a fun opportunity for young athletes to learn and perform, the event represents something even greater for the SHS Cheer program. It gives current cheerleaders an opportunity to serve as role models for the next generation and allows young campers to begin experiencing the traditions and values they see demonstrated by those ahead of them.
With more than 140 campers participating this year, that tradition was clearly visible all the way down Tiger Trail. “Make a difference. Be strong. Be courageous. But above all, do it with HEART,” said Coach Luci McNeely, who has led the Swainsboro High School Cheer program for more than two decades.
For Coach McNeely, Mini Camp is about much more than teaching cheers, dances, and skills. It is an opportunity to continue building a program rooted in tradition, leadership, and the responsibility of each generation of Swainsboro cheerleaders to positively influence the one that follows.
That message was evident throughout the day as current SHS cheerleaders stepped into leadership roles, encouraging, teaching, and connecting with the young Tigers who look up to them. The day concluded with a parent showcase, giving campers an opportunity to demonstrate what they learned to their families and supporters.
The fun is not over for the 2026 Mini Camp participants. Campers will have another opportunity to take the field alongside the SHS cheerleaders on Friday, October 2, when Swainsboro hosts Bleckley County. Mini campers are scheduled to participate in a special pregame performance at Tiger Field.
SHS Cheer extends its appreciation to the campers, parents, cheerleaders, coaches, and community members who helped make this year’s Mini Camp such a success.
With a record number of young Tigers participating, the future of Swainsboro Cheer looks bright. The tradition continues to grow, one generation at a time.
