The Swainsboro Lady Tigers junior varsity flag football team made a strong statement in last week’s tournament, showing skill, heart, and determination in every game. From start to finish, the Lady Tigers proved they are a program to watch in the coming years.

The tournament opened with a commanding 12-0 victory over Appling County. Swainsboro’s defense dominated, shutting down every scoring attempt, while the offense moved the ball efficiently and put points on the board. The win set the tone for the rest of the tournament.

Next, the Lady Tigers faced Turner County and delivered another complete performance, winning 21-0. The team showcased a balanced game, scoring on both offense and defense, and demonstrating the fundamentals and teamwork emphasized by the coaching staff. “The Turner County game was solid on both sides of the ball,” said Coach Alexandria Walden. “The girls executed the fundamentals and played hard every snap.”

In the championship game, Swainsboro met Appling County once again for a thrilling rematch. Appling scored late and converted a two-point play to take a 14-6 lead. Swainsboro responded with determination, driving down the field for a touchdown to narrow the score to 14-12. With time running out, the Lady Tigers attempted a final three-point conversion to take the lead, but the pass was intercepted, ending the game.

Even in defeat, Coach Walden praised her team’s performance. “The JV girls as a whole are very promising,” she said. “They’ve got skill, heart, and teamwork. Collectively, they’re going to be great, and their future in this sport is bright.”

Looking ahead, Coach Walden highlighted areas for continued growth. “We need to work on containment along the line, pulling flags consistently, and making the most of every position,” she explained. “Building confidence, improving communication, and trusting the process are key. We’ll continue developing our offense and playmakers to take the next step as a team.”

The Lady Tigers JV may have fallen just short in the championship, but their tournament run displayed a program on the rise. With talent, dedication, and coaching guidance, Swainsboro flag football’s future looks brighter than ever.
