After dropping a non-region game to Treutlen County earlier in the week, the Swainsboro Lady Tigers returned to softball action on Thursday, September 17, when they traveled to East Dublin to face the (16-6) Lady Falcons. East Laurens came into the game with a one game lead over Vidalia for first place in the in the region and hoped to keep their undefeated region record intact.

East Laurens scored one run in the bottom of the first inning and two more runs in the bottom of the second inning to take an early 3-0 lead, but the Swainsboro pitching and defense stood tall and held the Falcons scoreless for the remainder of the game. Unfortunately, Swainsboro was only able to put one run on the board and fell to East Laurens by a final score of 3-1. Anna Grace Scarborough went the distance in the circle for Swainsboro allowing three runs on five hits and three walks. She also struck out six batters in the game. The Lady Tigers matched the Falcons with five hits in the game and were led by Mylie Beneteau (2-2), Sara Smith (1-3), Kyleigh Hostilo (1-3), and Hillary Garvin (1-3).

Swainsboro was scheduled to be back in action on Monday against the Patriots of GSIC, but Mother Nature had other plans. Make-up plans for the rain out have not been released.

Next up for the Lady Tigers will be Senior Night on Wednesday, September 23, against Montgomery County. Senior recognition will start at 5:30 p.m. and game time will be 6 p.m. Swainsboro will also host ACE Charter on Thursday, September 24, at 6 p.m.
