On Tuesday August 11, Swainsboro hosted the Tattnall County Warriors. Odds are that you will be walking away with a win when you record 10 or more hits in a game. Well, Swainsboro tallied 14 hits in the game by 10 different Lady Tigers. Anna Grace Scarborough, Lily Hudson, Izzy Baird, and Ariel Tapley led the charge with two hits each but defensive errors and a lack of timely hitting eventually led to the Tiger’s demise. Coming into the game, the Swainsboro defense had been charged with a total of just one error in the first five games of the young season but they committed seven errors on the night. The Lady Tiger offense piled up the hits but stranded 11 base runners on the night which also was a big factor in the 9-3 loss.

Thursday the 13th’s game against Toombs County was washed out due to a severe thunderstorm and heavy rain. The game was rescheduled and played Monday in brutally hot conditions. Both teams struggled early on in the 100-degree heat but in the top of the third, Toombs County capitalized on a couple Swainsboro errors and extended their two-run lead with an eight run inning. The Lady Dawgs pulled away and defeated the Lady Tigers by a final score of 16-4. A. G. Scarborough led Swainsboro at the plate with two hits. Mylie Beneteau, Lily Hudson, Kyleigh Hostilo, Izzy Baird, and Stella Kate Marsh also recorded hits for Swainsboro.

The Lady Tigers will be back in action on Thursday (Aug. 13) when they host East Laurens at 6pm. They will then hit the road Saturday morning headed to Cordele where they will face Lake Oconee Academy at 11:30 a.m. and Wilcox County at 1:30 p.m. The Lady Tigers will also be in action in Vidalia on Tuesday August 25 at 5:30 p.m. The Lady Tigers will continue to play their home games at the Emanuel County Recreation Department until the softball field renovations are complete at Swainsboro High School.
