Rayleigh Faircloth drove in five runs on two hits to lead David Emanuel Varsity Lady Eagles past Twiggs Academy Varsity Trojans 15-7 on Thursday, September 10. Faircloth hit a home run to center field in the third inning, scoring three runs, and singled in the third inning, scoring one.
Lady Eagles scored 11 runs in the third inning on the way to victory. Faircloth singled, scoring one run, Bailey McNure singled, scoring one run, Evie Moore singled, scoring two runs, Lexie Starley singled, scoring one run, Kaley Flowers singled, scoring one run, Payton Peebles doubled, scoring one run, Faircloth homered to center field, scoring three runs, and Emily McRae tripled, scoring one run. Lady Eagles got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Flowers flew out, and Faircloth grounded out, each scoring one run, and added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning after Varsity Trojans committed an error, and Aubrey Scott tripled down the right field line, each scoring one run.
Varsity Trojans scored five runs on four hits in the top of the fourth inning. Rowen Garcia singled, scoring two runs, Kendall Patton tripled, scoring two runs, and Lilyann Bryan grounded out, scoring one run.
Faircloth earned the win for Lady Eagles, allowing four hits and two runs (zero earned) over three innings, striking out one and walking none. Carolann Bryan took the loss for Varsity Trojans. The starter went two and one-third innings, giving up 13 runs (10 earned) on 13 hits, striking out none and walking none. Sydney Lively appeared in relief for Lady Eagles.
Lady Eagles amassed 17 hits and turned one double play in the game. Peebles and Scott collected three hits and McNure and Moore collected multiple hits.
Avery Youmans and Bryan were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for Varsity Trojans. Garcia and Patton were tough to handle back-to-back in the lineup, as each drove in two runs.
