DEA Varsity Eagles rally defeats RTCA Varsity Lady Crusaders

David Emanuel Academy Varsity Eagles trailed by as many as four but came back to top Robert Toombs Christian Academy Varsity Lady Crusaders on Monday, October 6, 7-5.

Varsity Lady Crusaders opened the scoring in the bottom of the third thanks to three singles and got on the board when Amelia Mercer singled, scoring one run.

Varsity Eagles made the score 4-3 in the top of the fourth inning when Rayleigh Faircloth hit a solo home run to center field, and Bailey McNure singled, scoring two runs.

In the top of the fifth inning, Varsity Eagles went back into the lead after Addalyn Terwilliger hit a sacrifice fly, and Kate Yeomans singled to center field, each scoring one run. Faircloth earned the win for Varsity Eagles. The pitcher gave up 10 hits and five runs (four earned) over seven innings, striking out 12 and walking one. Annabelle Coe took the loss for Varsity Lady Crusaders. The starting pitcher went five and one-third innings, allowing seven runs (five earned) on 13 hits, striking out two and walking two.

Varsity Eagles piled up 14 hits in the game. Payton Peebles went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Varsity Eagles in hits. McNure and Peebles each drove in two runs for Varsity Eagles. Kaley Flowers, Emily McRae, and Aubrey Scott each collected multiple hits for Varsity Eagles.

Varsity Lady Crusaders amassed 10 hits in the game. Braylin Pittman drove the middle of the lineup, leading Varsity Lady Crusaders with two runs batted in. The left fielder went 2-for-4 on the day. Elin Haygood, Mercer, Pittman, and Chesney Burch each collected two hits for Varsity Lady Crusaders. Varsity Lady Crusaders stole four bases in the game and turned one double play.
