DEA Middle School Eagles victorious over Thomas Jefferson Middle School

DEA Middle School Eagles took down Thomas Jefferson Middle School 11-8 on Tuesday, September 15, at Thomas Jefferson Academy.

Eagles got on the board in the top of the first inning after Callie Mae Davis grounded out, and Blakely Brown doubled to right field, each scoring one run. Thomas Jefferson captured the lead, 3-2, in the bottom of the first when #9 doubled, scoring one run, and #10 singled, scoring two runs.

Eagles captured the lead, 6-3, in the top of the second after Callie Mae singled up the middle, and Weslee Fields singled down the left field line, each scoring two runs, followed by one run in the top of the fourth on an inside the park home run by Evie Moore on the sixth pitch of the at-bat.

Blakely earned the win for Middle School Eagles allowing seven hits and eight runs (three earned) over six innings, striking out eight and walking two.

#23 took the loss for Thomas Jefferson. The starter went six innings, giving up nine runs (five earned) on eight hits, striking out 10 and walking two. #30 went 2-for-3 at the plate and led the team with two runs batted in.

Eagles accumulated eight hits in the game. Evie, Mary Bess Fields, and Weslee each collected two hits and Callie Mae, Mary Bess, and Weslee each drove in two runs. Evie led Eagles with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating five walks for the game. Evie and Blakely each stole multiple bases and Eagles ran wild on the base paths, amassing six stolen bases for the game and turned one double play in the game.
