David Emanuel Varsity Lady Eagles defeated Edmund Burke Academy Varsity Lady Spartans 8-0 on Wednesday, September 16, at David Emanuel Academy, thanks in part to five runs in the third inning. Aubrey Scott tripled, scoring one run, Kaley Flowers singled, scoring one run, Rayleigh Faircloth homered to center field, scoring two runs, and Kate Yeomans singled, scoring one run.
Faircloth earned the win for Lady Eagles, giving up two hits and zero runs over six innings, striking out seven and walking none.
Lexi McNair took the loss for Lady Spartans. The pitcher went three innings, surrendering five runs (four earned) on seven hits, striking out none and walking one.
Varsity Lady Eagles collected 12 hits in the game. Faircloth provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led them with two runs batted in. The pitcher went 2-for-4 on the day. Scott set the tone at the top of the lineup, leading Lady Eagles with three hits in four at bats. Flowers and Emily McRae each collected multiple hits and Lady Eagles stole five bases in the game.
McNair and Carly Johnson each collected one hit for Varsity Lady Spartans.
