Westfield School defeated David Emanuel Varsity Lady Eagles 11-3 on Tuesday, August 25, at Westfield School in game 1, thanks in part to seven runs in the fourth inning.
Westfield opened the scoring in the bottom of the third, thanks to three singles. They first got on the board when Happel singled, scoring one run.
The Lady Eagles tied the game up in the top of the fourth, thanks to two singles, and tied the game at three on a single by Kate Yeomans.
Westfield flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the fourth, scoring seven runs on four hits to take the lead, 10-3. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Crosby that drove in two.
Sydney Lively started in the circle for the Eagles. The hurler gave up nine hits and 10 runs (four earned) over three and two-thirds innings, striking out none and walking two.
Hair opened the game for Westfield, and the starting pitcher surrendered five hits and three runs over five innings, striking out four and walking none.
Yeomans, Rayleigh Faircloth, Payton Peebles, Lexie Starley and Emily McRae each collected one hit for the Eagles. Yeomans led with two runs batted in and went 1-for-2 on the day.
Westfield tallied 10 hits in the game. Nipper, the number nine hitter, led them with two hits in three at bats. Happel and Crosby each drove in two runs and Happel stole two bases. Westfield School stole four bases in the game.
