Big first inning leads Middle School Eagles past Metter Middle School

DEA Middle School Eagles scored nine runs in the first inning, which helped them defeat Metter Middle School 14-2 on Thursday, August 27, at David Emanuel Academy. Blakely Brown singled, scoring two runs, Brown was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Brailey Johnson drew a walk, scoring one run, Lyndi Simmons singled, scoring two runs, Evie Moore was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Brown drew a walk, scoring one run, and Weslee Fields singled, scoring one run.

Metter Middle School got on the board in the top of the first inning after #3 walked, and #14 grounded out, each scoring one run.

Middle School Eagles scored five runs on five hits in the bottom of the second inning. Mary Bess Fields hit an inside the park home run, scoring three runs, and Weslee Fields tripled, scoring two runs.

Mary Bess earned the win for Middle School Eagles. The pitcher gave up two hits and two runs over two and two-thirds innings, striking out four and walking four.

Middle School Eagles amassed 10 hits in the game. Callie Mae Davis, Mary Bess Fields, and Weslee Fields each collected two hits. Mary Bess and Weslee each drove in three runs. The Eagles turned one double play in the game.

#14 and #3 were a one-two punch in the lineup, as each drove in one run for Metter Middle School. #9 and #10 each collected one hit. Metter Middle School didn't commit a single error in the field. #15 had the most chances in the field with three.

Middle School Eagles will travel to Bulloch Academy Middle School for their next game on Wednesday, September 2.
