Jerlyn is a Bible teacher who loves engaging others in God's Word. Her passion is reaching people and sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ outside the walls through ministries she has founded and incorporated to show Jesus' unconditional love to people who may or may not attend church. Jerlyn is the publisher of the first Christian news publication in Jefferson County, The Christian Voice 5, and the founder of the Bettye Jean Stephens Bible Academy.

Jerlyn is the daughter of the late Reverend Bettye Jean Stephens who demonstrated a pastor's heart as an example that Reverend Smith-Hudson follows to this day. She is the mother of Joy, and the grandmother of Jamiria Danielle.

Jerlyn's drive and passion for ministering is most reflected in the scripture Philippians 3:14, New International Version.

"I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus."
