On May 11, Swainsboro Lady Tiger senior A’acaylah “K.K.” Murphy officially took the next step in her basketball career, signing to continue both her academic and athletic journey at Andrew College during a ceremony held in the Swainsboro High School Media Center.

Surrounded by family, teammates, coaches, and supporters, Murphy celebrated a moment years in the making after building a career defined by hard work, dedication, and determination. The signing marked the beginning of a new chapter for one of Swainsboro’s most accomplished basketball players.

Murphy’s road to this moment was built over years of commitment and countless hours spent improving her game. From making an immediate impact as a freshman during the Lady Tigers’ state playoff runs to becoming one of the most dominant players in Region 3A Division I, Murphy consistently established herself as a difference-maker on the floor.

This past season, Murphy turned in an impressive senior campaign, averaging 14.0 points, 8.9 rebounds, and 4.3 steals per game while helping lead the Lady Tigers to a successful season. Her ability to impact games on both ends of the floor made her one of the most complete players in the region and earned her Region 3A Division I Player of the Year honors.

Murphy also recently represented Swainsboro on one of Georgia’s biggest basketball stages after earning selection to participate in the GACA Girls All-Star Game, competing among some of the top players from across the state.

Her recruitment process ultimately came down to three schools: Young Harris College, Georgia Southern University-East Georgia Campus, and Andrew College. Following careful consideration of her options, Murphy officially selected Andrew College as the place where she felt she could continue growing both academically and athletically.

In attendance for the signing ceremony were Murphy’s family members, including her parents, Amber Cuyler and Demetrius Cuyler; her brothers, Demetrius “DJ” Cuyler and Devin Cuyler; and her grandmother, Judy Smith.

Also showing support were members of the Lady Tiger basketball program, several of Murphy’s flag football teammates, Coach Alexandra Walden, Coach Alicia Hendrix, Coach Cindy Brett, and a host of Tiger Nation supporters who filled the Media Center to celebrate the special occasion.

During the ceremony, Coach Walden offered words of encouragement to Murphy as she begins her next chapter, emphasizing the importance of keeping God first, remaining focused on school, never quitting, and continuing to strive to become the best version of herself both on and off the court.

For Murphy, the signing represented more than just selecting a college destination. It marked the reward for years of sacrifice and dedication and the beginning of a future she has worked hard to create.

As Murphy prepares to continue her basketball career at Andrew College, she leaves behind a lasting legacy as a Lady Tiger and a player whose impact on the program will be remembered for years to come.
