Family Connection holds monthly meeting

On Thursday, October 8, Emanuel Family Connection held our monthly Collaborative meeting and hosted a "Book Tasting". This special program connected childhood literacy directly to our current fundraising campaign.

Those who attended the meeting received information on how to host a book tasting event and how it promotes interest in reading for both children and adults. We shared a handout with reflection statements for partners to see that books can lead to discussions that support emotional wellbeing. These tools bridged our childhood literacy programs to our impact strategy for improved resilience in our community.

Each person received a copy of the creative menu that was an example of how refreshments/snacks are served that match the theme of the book. Five tables had the books, fun props, and were full of tasty treats from a selection of some of the books chosen by this year's "Book Characters" from our Ferst Readers fundraiser.

A tea party was served from "Alice in Wonderland"; pumpkin bars from "It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown"; charcuterie roses from "Phantom of the Opera" to name a few.
