David Emanuel Academy standout student-athlete Brody Fleming is officially taking his baseball career to the collegiate level. A signing ceremony was held in the DEA gymnasium on Monday morning, May 18 where the senior pitcher and utility player signed his commitment to play for the Georgia Southern Golden Eagles.
Fleming celebrated the milestone surrounded by family, coaches, teammates, and peers. Recognized as a dominant force on the mound and a cornerstone of the DEA varsity baseball team, Fleming's exceptional pitching—highlighted by multiple high-strikeout performances this season—helped propel the Eagles through highly competitive GIAA local circuits.
His commitment marks an exciting new chapter for both the athlete and the local sports scene, as the Georgia Southern East Georgia program prepares for its highly anticipated transition into NAIA athletic competition. By choosing the Swainsboro-based campus, Fleming will showcase his talents directly in front of his hometown community.
"We are incredibly proud of Brody’s hard work, dedication, and leadership throughout his time as an Eagle," stated DEA Varsity Baseball Head Coach Chad Starley. "He has earned this opportunity through relentless effort, and we look forward to watching him excel at the next level."
With his commitment finalized, Fleming will transition from a DEA Eagle to a Golden Eagle, remaining a prominent figure in Emanuel County sports.
The entire Stillmore and Swainsboro communities congratulate Brody on his achievement and wish him continued success on the diamond.
