Life is a funny thing. Some say it’s a mystery. Some say it’s a puzzle. Which do you believe? Take your pick. I’m gonna go with the puzzle. Here’s why. One of the biggest debates we have had in 2026 deals with Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Data Centers. Now, ASI (Artificial Super Intelligence) has come into the conversation while I’m still trying to get through the first few chapters of “AI for Dummies”. To make things even more puzzling, we got the news last week about the AI Hoax. Now you can see why I chose “Life is a Puzzle”. This declaration allows me to slip and slide around any discussion or debate about things like AI when I really don’t know any more about it than Walt Disney did or Bernie Sanders does. These two figures were prominent dreamers, but the difference is that Walt Disney created a fictional fantasy world, and Bernie Sanders actually lives in one.
Reality can also be a puzzle. On one hand, we have the dawning of an innovative, dynamic industry that appears to be the equal of all the most impactful economic eras this country has ever witnessed. AI is widely regarded as tomorrow’s promise both in our country and the rest of the developed planet. It will set the order for the standards of the coming world in every respect. Life will change. Even though its progress and development have moved along at blinding speed so far, it has now slowed dramatically. Even though we are competing with China for the worldwide leadership role of A.I., the chairmen of the leading AI companies have suddenly pleaded in unison for a more cautious, responsible and slower pace. This call has become sensationalized to the point that President Donald Trump has labeled it as a hoax and placed blame on the Democrat party leaders for turning it into a campaign issue as the November election approaches. Meanwhile China gains ground on us every day.
And meanwhile, Congress does nothing. In typical fashion, Congress has taken another recess until after the mid-term election on November 3, 2026. Once again Congress leaves bills of vital importance gathering dust for weeks. And once again, the best interests and welfare of this nation are not being served but are again being held hostage by the shenanigans of one political party or the other. If the progress of an incredibly valuable project like A.I. is being villainized and held up for purely political gain, then let that be known by one and all. If the progress of that same project is leaving communities throughout this country unsure of how they should proceed in the coming world of AI, then let that be known as well. Statesmanship and accountability, fairly applied will accurately chart the course for this nation in this case and every one that follows. It is as simple as that. No puzzle about it.
